Ahhhh the heavenly little ‘small steamed dumplings” xiao long bao, or 小籠包. Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐 has quite the reputation- I mean that in a good way. It’s come a long way from being a small side business when husband and wife duo started selling them as home orders in Taiwan to make some extra money. The dumplings were so good that it became a full fledged restaurant in the 1980’s. There are chains opened all around the world. But the two Hong Kong chains- first being in Tsim Sha Tsui earned it their first Michelin Star, when the Causeway Bay branch opened- they earned their second- 1 Michelin Star….Happy happy! I love me some Taiwanese food!
After a fun morning fitness magazine shoot for 東周刊 East Week Magazine! My aunt and mom had come to support my shoot! And, on the way over had spotted the Din Tai Fung downstairs. I’ve never been to the Hong Kong branches…and after our shoot close to 2pm we rushed over! There was quite a line…but moved pretty fast. The space in Causeway Bay is huge! It’s bustling and bursting with people, chatter and lots of yummy food!!
This is just a small portion of the appetizers! Yummy healthy start. Drunken chicken, minced veggies and bean curd, cold raw cucumbers, and other Taiwanese snacks!
THIS IS NOTHING…compared to the food that came after! We ordered xiao long baos (3 baskets), fried dumplings, dan dan mian, and other Taiwanese delights!
And these other delightful poppers...
I prefer the Xiao Long Baos (These babies should be eaten hot…right when its served) Soupy, meaty and juicy!! YUM..One of my favourite things to eat!
Here’s a behind the scenes snap!! Worked up an appetite! Eat Clean, Train Mean, Be Lean (post)!
And here’s the final outcome…Check out some of my Blog Press informations and links here!
