BAKE WITH JESS- Chocolate Crumble Pie Edition (RECIPE INCLUDED! BOTTOM OF THE PAGE)

Creating the Chocolate Crumble Pie actually takes quite a bit of work…There’s 4 parts to it! RECIPE on the BOTTOM of this page…This is going to be a LONG post…What did I get myself into!?!?!

PASTRY: 

150 Grams of Flour (Add a pinch of salt)

60 Grams of Butter

50 Grams of Icing Sugar

2-3 tbsp of Egg Yolk & White

MY PASTRY!!! This would be the Crust… 🙂 Grainy iPhone pictures…what do you expect? My fingers are full of flour, sugar..butter 😉

Chocolate Filling:

75 ml of Whipping Cream

75 ml of Milk

100 Grams of Dark Chocolate (Chips, are fine)

1 Egg

The filling -Chocolate Filling 😉 Warming the milk part…. MMMM ….

ALMOND BISCUITS

1/2 Egg White

2 tsp Sugar

35 Grams of Ground Almonds

1/4 tsp of Cornstarch

15 Grams of icing sugar

While…the pastry is being baked and the filling is being whipped up- We also made our own Almond Biscuits from scratch!! 😀 I didn’t take any pictures during the process since my fingers were too sticky..but I did get a picture of the finished product 🙂

Filling gets poured in- baked some more!!!

Cooled off..Drizzle some chocolate sauce icing over it!!! 🙂

CRUMBLE TOPPINGS- (You can mix in whatever toppings you like!)

40 Grams of Brown Sugar

40 Grams of Pecans

30 Grams of Chocolate

40 Grams of Almond Biscuits

1 tsp Cocoa Powder

TA DA!!!!! 😀

FIRST BAKED PIE FROM SCRATCH!! 🙂 Thanks Towngas…Watch out world. Miss Jann’s Bakery WILL be happening. One Day 🙂 Baby steps. Patience is a virtue 😉

Find the Recipe below…..(This took a REALLY long to type up..hope you enjoy it! Try it out some time!)

BAKE WITH JESS-

1) PASTRY: Ingredients-

150 Grams of Flour (Add a pinch of salt)

60 Grams of Butter

50 Grams of Icing Sugar

2-3 tbsp of Egg Yolk & White

A) Sift the flour and pinch of salt into a mixing bowl!

B) Cut a COLD butter stick (60grams) into small slices.

C) Rub (using your hands) the butter into the flour until your mixture becomes dry (think-breadcrumbs!)

D) Slowly and gradually add 50 grams of pure sugar and your 2-3 tbsp beaten eggs into the mix! 

E) Let it Chill for  30 minutes! 

F) After chilling- Roll out the dough and line the pastry onto a 18cm flat cake pan…Lay out the dough onto the cake pan, prick the bottom of the dough (Add a thin wax paper lining- add some rice/beans for weight..so the crust pastry  doesn’t rise when you first bake it without the filling!)

G) Bake in oven at 190 degree Celsius for 10 minutes! Then remove the paper, and bake again for 5 extra minutes..until crust becomes slight brown! 🙂

2) Chocolate Filling:

75 ml of Whipping Cream

75 ml of Milk

100 Grams of Dark Chocolate (Chips, are fine)

1 Egg

A)Warm milk and whipping cream in sauce pan at a low heat. 

B) When it’s steaming, turn off the stove- leave to cool first and then add in chocolate and beaten eggs!

C)Pour the filling onto the cooked pastry and bake in oven for 15 minutes!! Let COOL! 🙂

3) ALMOND BISCUITS

1/2 Egg White

2 tsp Sugar

35 Grams of Ground Almonds 

1/4 tsp of Cornstarch

15 Grams of icing sugar

A) Beat egg white until it becomes a white foam! Add sugar until the mixture becomes sticky and stiff!

B) Sieve in ground almond, cornstarch and sugar into the mixture! Use a spatula to mix gently!

C)Pipe the mixture onto a baking tray and bake at 190 degree Celsius for 15 minutes!

4) CRUMBLE TOPPINGS- (You can mix in whatever toppings you like!)

40 Grams of Brown Sugar

40 Grams of Pecans

30 Grams of Chocolate

40 Grams of Almond Biscuits

1 tsp Cocoa Powder

A) Chop all the ingredients and sprinkle on the pie before serving!!
