Cassio by Barrafina is the newest hit from the group behind LKF’s long standing hot spot Dragon-i. I’ve been hearing great buzz about this spacious three room space- from their fun early to late night lounge/ retro styled bar area to their refreshing cocktails, and delicious Spanish tapas from Barrafina. Barrafina is the uber famous Spanish tapas bar that got it’s start in Soho and Covent Garden in London. When I got an email to go in for a tasting- I jumped at the chance! 🙂
Loved the beautiful colorful lights strung all atop. The space is cool, big and lively with great decor. We ordered a mix of their signature dishes as well as some that just sounded really damn good.
Stuffed Chicken Wings filled with prawns, mushrooms, zucchini and Mojo Rojo Sauce, HK$168. This is the clearest pic that I got of these wings (and it is a such a shame) cause it was fantastic. The inside filling was moist, juicy and super flavorful. The outside had a nice crackly, crispy crunch to it. (You see what I did there? ;))
Spanish Carabinero, Large Mediterranean red prawn, seafood bisque and bread cubes, HK$248. This was a rather big and juicy red prawn with so much yummy brains…trust me it’s good!!! All I wanted was a bit more. The seafood bisque was super flavorful- dip the tiny toasted bread cubes in and you are good to go.
La Pinta- Hendrick’s, Lime Juice, Mint, Soda, Cucumber, HK$140. Yum! I can’t say no to cocktails.
Iberico Sobrassada- semi soft spread Iberico chorizo potato omelette, $HK98. Wow…. once you pop into this potato omelette- you are delighted with a dazzling mix of yolk, cheese and all that is good and right in this world.
Scallop Ceviche- Japanese scallops, lime, citrus juices, red and yellow Aji Chillies, HK$178. This scallop ceviche sure packed a punch. It’s really spicy. The bites of scallops were fresh and tasty. Out of everything- this was my least favorite though.
Prawn Croquetas, 2 breadcrumbed spheres encasing seafood bisque béchamel and prawns, HK$68. Nice lil’ pre- starter. Made us so anxious and excited for this meal.
Sangria- Tempranillo, Brandy, Orange Juice, Soda, HK$120!! Loved the presentation and it was super goooooood and refreshing.
Their signature 12 hr slow cooked Iberico Pork Ribs with plump cherry tomatoes, padron peppers, HK$198. Okay. We have finally arrived at my favorite savory dish. This dish alone has cemented Cassio as one of my fave spots of 2017 already. (I know. I love them ribs…seriously.) These Iberico pork ribs were so damn good. Meat- fall-off the ribs and then melt-in-your-mouth type of tender goodness. It is a must try. God. I want some of this right now. 😀
Churros!!! Fried dough, Chocolate sauce, crumble and we chose a scoop of chocolate ice cream, HK$98. The deep friend churros were hot, crunchy and terrific. But next time will order it with vanilla ice cream. A bit too much chocolate overload.
Their signature Macedonia- diced fruit selection, filo cracker, vanilla chantilly, HK$98. Okay. When we first ordered this…I was deeply skeptical. Did not sound too good but boy was I wrong. This was so damn good. The firm yet flaky filo cracker mixed in with the candied diced fruits and vanilla chantilly was like heaven. Never judging a book by it’s cover. Want this again too.
Esmeralda- Pisco, Jasmine Tea, Lime Juice, Peychaud’s Bitter, Egg White, HK$140. You won’t be disappointed.
I loved everything about Cassio by Barrafina. Dragon-i group has done it again. Definitely another hit on their hands. I will definitely be back…. #themribs <3
