A family with first hand knowledge and love for Peruvian food. Hong Kong’s very first Peruvian restaurant (from Concept Creation’s Group which also brought us Spanish tapa joint Tapeo & Belgian Beer house Frites). Recently voted as Hong Kong’s best new restaurant in 2012 by Time Out Hong Kong. Well, sure sounds like a perfect place for a birthday feast.
And it was.
Another year older. Another year wiser 😉 I’d like to think. As this year is coming to a close. I had such an amusing, awesome, amazing year (alliteration…remember that folks?)….And I can’t wait to continue on this crazy journey. Here’s a viral toast to 2013!!
Without further ado………I present you, Chicha.
A round of Pisco Sours. On the house 😉 Awesome!!! A very popular Peruvian cocktail of pisco, fresh lime juice, egg white and 7-up. Every bit as refreshing as it sounds…
Salted Roasted Nuts, lime, & a tangy, citrus dip.
Corvina Cerviche- tender Sea Bass, drenched in a a zesty, flavorful seasoning of red onions, sweet corn cilantro, and classic leche de tigre sauce! Oh my. Zesty, tangy, and tasty!!!
King Fish Tiradito- Deliciously soft King Fish- sliced thinly carpaccio- style and seasoned with chilli, lime, cilantro and a spicy dressing!
Pollo Anticucho (Chicken Skewer close up)- Tender, succulent chicken topped off with aji panca and roasted pine nut sauce….Yummmmmm 🙂
Pollo Anticucho (Chicken on the Left) Corvina Anticucho (Beef; Front Right) & Cod Anticucho (Cod Fish; Back Right- My favorite of the skewers. Juicy, sweet, tender cod….I would definitely come back for more of this!)
Pan Con Chicharron (Pork) Sandwich– A mini pulled pork burger…chock full of flavor! Pulled pork, cheese, onions, sweet potato and salsa criolla scooped between two soft buns. A nice little treat! 🙂
Refreshing Inca Cola 🙂 Tastes like 7 up…but better 😉 Totally can get used to drinking more of this stuff.
Taco Platter- Fish Taco & Chicken Taco- Served in a hard taco shell. It’s quite messy and difficult to share :/ I only had the fish taco. The fish had a delightful mango salsa, lime sauce, and tartar like sauce that complemented the fish well. But at this point. I was pretty darn stuffed.
Lechon Confitado- Roasted Suckling pig. It looked really good. But it was more on the dry side. But the potato balls (filled with rice) were ridiculously tasty. Crunchy and crispy on the outside 🙂
Various Sauces-throughout the night.
Yu Jie & K. 🙂 There was a slight break for pictures…
Choritos- Mussels..in a fiery seafood broth. It was too strong for my taste! But others enjoyed it.
Cova Chocolate Cake!! Great choice on a cake…it was deliciously moist, chocolate-y, and …perfect.
Cissy Jie, Auntie, and Jie. Stunning ladies.. 🙂 Thank you. Oh so much.
The fellas!! Uncle, me & Donnie Ge! 🙂
Wish making time. WE drank a lot too. Too much wine, champagne, and cocktails! 😉 It was awesome. As the cake came. Donnie Ge caught it all on camera (wish I could share the video, except I don’t know how…not tech-savvy) but I didn’t even know how lucky I got. The entire restaurant, staff, and diners all joined in on the birthday song! Sigh. Super blessed.
My niece and nephew celebrated my birthday with me too! It was an awesome way to ring in another year. I’m so blessed to have this amazing family who welcomed me with wide open arms when I made the move here. Thankful every single day. You guys always catch me, laugh with me, bum it with me ;), encourage me, support me, love me (to list a few). And, I love you all so much.
Hate you though. Yu jie. She made me cry. Who does that?! LOL (All good tears, of course. It was a simple, beautiful card…. 😉 We hugged it out. We’re a lovey- dovey family). There was a bet on that side of the table…. Meanies. 😉
If you don’t watch HIMYM. Please start. Just watched the most recent episode…. 😀 SOOOOOO cute!!! ENJOY!!! <3
Thank you everyone!!! For all the people I’ve met, known and grown with! And, please continue reading. There’s so much more to come. 2013. AHHH. Excited 🙂 Happy New Years!!
