Honolulu Café ( 檀島咖啡餅店 ) is well known for its old school charm and cha chaan teng style of food. The first Honolulu Cafe set up shop in Sham Shui Po in the 1940’s and has now grown to two sit down cafe’s and three standalone bakeries throughout Hong Kong. It’s heralded as one of the most famous cha chain teng’s in Hong Kong. They’re famous for their fluffy and sweet egg tarts which I’ve tried on another visit but forgot to blog about…until now.
We sat down for breakfast one early morning to finally try one of their yummy breakfast sets.
It’s a tad pricier than some other cha chan tend spots- but worth it.
Iced milk tea. (Love how big the cup is…as opposed to other cha chan teng’s.)
Recognize that fireworks backdrop in the back?
Does it look more familiar now?! The Honolulu Cafe in Wan Chai was one of the main filming locations for the 2010 rom coms: Crossing Hennessy, starring Tang Wai and Jacky Cheung.
A buttered dinner roll and some very runny sunny side up eggs. Mmmmm 😉
Last but not least was my delicious satay beef in instant noodles. This is one of my favorite breakfast pairings. Though, I get it a little bit too often for my own good. I’m going to start eating a bit healthier. Got a much needed wake up call. Hope you guys can join me too!
Honolulu Cafe makes for a great breakfast spot, easy, comforting and cheap meal! 🙂
