Delicious meal with a view at Rech by Alain Ducasse

Delicious meal with a view at Rech by Alain Ducasse. One Sunday lunch we ventured over to Intercontinental in Kowloon to try out the new restaurant- Rech by Alain Ducasse (previously Spoon by Alain Ducasse.) I’ve been several times to Spoon for dinner as well as the Intercon Steakhouse but I was in for a nice surprise when I saw the gorgeous and bright space that is Rech by Alain Ducasse. The space was large yet intimate, white and serene and I can’t say enough good things about that harbour view. We got very lucky and sat right by the window in the plush booth seats and could just take in the stunning view all during our meal. The exclusive Sunday lunch menu is only available on Sunday’s (duh) but is a huge tasting menu and includes wine pairing for only HK$888! That’s a real steal!!!

Starters: marinated sardine, carrots-basil / octopus, white coco beans-soft chili/ langoustine jelly, lime-ginger/ vegetables in a salted crust, sorrel condiments. The lunch tasting began with a lovely quartet of starters. I really enjoyed each and every one especially the VEGETABLES (in the pretty blue bowl.) I’m not the biggest fan of vegetables but if all my vegetables could tast like these fresh and flavorful veggies were… wellI would eat mostly vegetables at every single meal.

Welcome drink- carrot, lemon & coconut juice! Terrific. We both commented on how we’ve never had such tasty carrot juice before. The seaweed cracker on the left was a great way to tide our stomachs over while waiting for the other dishes to arrive without getting too full.

This Sunday lunch tasting menu includes wine pairing, as selected by their sommelier.

2 french oysters for each person (4 in total since we’re a party of two) We had the Princesse de Kermancy Creuses special and Fines de Calire de Marennes Oleron oysters. The oysters were succulent, juicy and oh so delicious. I could go with some more though….

Another look at this beautifulness.

Huge bread selection and look at that butter designed in a super cute fish mold! I loved all the plating at Rech.

Crockpot of black quinoa, squid and sesame seeds. This was really zesty, fresh and flavorful. The quinoa was a nice touch because it didn’t make this ‘grain course’ seem too filling. Instead it made this course seem super nice and light. The squid’s taste and texture were terrific too.

Red wine to go with our main course.

Wild cod aioli was the first main course dish and the cod fish did not disappoint. The cod fish meat was incredibly moist and sweet. Gobbled it right up.

The second main course dish was the beef fillet, green peas and asparagus left us wanting more. The veggies were once again on point and the beef fillet was tender, savory and absolutely exquisite.

Rech’s famous Camembert cheese. They gave me a VERY generous serving. (Not pictured)

Fresh kiwi– palate cleanser!

A selection of desserts to choose from!!! <3

My dessert plate picks! Too full by the end of this amazing brunch. Everything was terrific and I’ll definitely be making my way over to the Intercon to get some more of this.
