Doppio Zero

Jie (Left) and moi! READY TO CHOW DOWN @Doppio Zero, I’ve heard pretty good things and was excited to finally be able to try it for myself! So, one lovely, slightly windy and rainy Friday evening I got the chance to.

Bread was also consumed…sadly no picture..hunger pangs! What’s a girl to do? I munched too quickly! 😉

Truffled Fried Oysters– Black Truffle Aioli/Creamed Spinach….It’s one of Doppio’s specialties and boy did it taste good! A light crisp fried coating atop a soft, juicy oyster with a hint of truffle…YES PLEASE! One just wasn’t enough!

Affettati-Proscuitto, speck, whipped lardo, grilled focaccia. The proscuitto was slightly sweet and salty. I’m not the biggest fan so I didn’t particularly favor it.

Grilled Octopus-Spicy ‘Nduja Sausage, Frisee, Preserved lemon & black Olives- Its interesting, nothing what I expected. First, its HUGE. I ordered one extra one for myself without knowing exactly what I was getting myself into (Gluttony…no good) and the texture was hard and crunchy (octopus, what did I expect?);  while the sauce was spicy and tangy! Interesting. Luckily, Jie loved this stuff…so she helped devour my extra helping.

Flowering Baby Cabbage- Sausage, Garlic, EVOO, Pepperoncini- I ordered an extra side because I asked for smaller portions of the pastas. I loved this. It was flavorful, tender, and different! 🙂 I was expecting some plain veggies..but instead got a heaping pile of pork sausage to accompany it 🙂 Thank you! Only problem…just a wee bit oily.

Ravioli-Red Wine Braised Beetroot, Gorgonzola, Italian Butter, & poppy seeds! OH MY! I loved this! The delicate and thin ravioli skin   wrapped around the beetroot was delicious! It literally melts in your mouth. Mmmmmmm 🙂 The Italian butter is sharp and butter-y (how does one describe the goodness that is, butter?)  MMMMMM…I’m dreaming about this as I type! 😀

Tagliatelle-Classic Bolognese Sauce, Parmigiano, Nutmeg- It’s their specialty! And, I can see why. The pasta was fresh, light and divine! The sauce was delicious and mixed in with the crunchy-ness of the nutmeg made this dish really unique and tasty.

Wait..It gets better.

Chitarra-Sea Urchin, Crab Roe, and Tarragon- I’m not sure why this isn’t a specialty because it was soooo good! This and the ravioli were my favorites of the night! The fresh pasta was swimming in a delicious creamy, hearty and thick sea urchin sauce! 🙂 This, I VERY VERY much enjoyed.

Dessert- Cheesecake w/ a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Welcome Back Jessica! <3 HK is glad to have you back.

The Girls :)) My group shot didn’t come out too well :/ If you girls want to send yours over..PLEASE DO!

Girls Night for the win! 🙂 CHEESE! Happy FRIDAY everyone

Doppio Zero was satisfying, enjoyable and hearty, to say the least! I’ll be back, but I’ll be sticking to the what they do best, their specialities.

TGIF! 🙂 Thank God it’s Friday! Have a swell weekend!!
