THREE MONKEYS FINALLY OPENS!!

On the ever expanding bustling street that is Hollywood Road lies a new dining experience….Three Monkeys is the highly anticipated new grilling dining venture in the ever expanding Hong Kong foodie scene. Yakitori joints are a dime a dozen in Hong Kong, but I have to admit… I already know I’m going to be a regular at Three Monkeys. It has a modern, fun and buzzy feel to it. Hungry revelers are served mouth watering skewers, sizzling yaki items along with other equally scrumptious cooked delights.

Let’s begin.

My fellow foodie, Viv and I were blessed enough to go to the grand opening on Tuesday. (They’ve been in soft opening mode- where I was fortunate enough to try out some few dishes and drinks–which, by the way –their Old Fashioned. AMAZING!)

Bisous‘ Katrina was also there to celebrate the opening and marvel/inhale the food. (Ok, I know I inhaled the food)…

GYU-Tongue (Their most popular dish..and I’ll tell you why… Viv doesn’t eat this…so LUCKY ME!! I got the whole ox-tongue! Woo Hoo! Celebrate life’s mini victories, people! So- it was a thick slice grilled with a light salt and pepper seasoning. The tongue was beautifully crispy round the edges while amazingly fatty and tender inside. MELT IN YOUR MOUTH GOODNESS.

Tomato Bacon (A juicy cherry tomato enveloped by a thick, crispy and crunchy piece of simply seasoned salt and pepper bacon strip…. Sweet, juicy and a burst of flavor in your mouth!

Nankotsu- Crunchy Cartilage (Look Below)

Nankotsu- Crunchy Cartilage with a hint of sea salt and lemon. One of my favorite yakitori skewers to order. And, it did not disappoint. Simply sea salt, a drizzle of lemon juice…and you’re good to go!

Chicken Wings Skewers for moi! Thin, crisp, simply seasoned wings. They were juicy and moist on the inside, while being nicely crunchy on the outside…Devoured them soooo fast.

Kalbi Beef Skewer…OMG….Hmmmm, lets see, how to describe this piece of DELICIOUSNESS. Tender, hearty beef soaked in a rich layer of a sweet soy sauce Kalbi marinade. It was grilled to perfection.

Skewer-ing away!!! Hurry it up! I’m hungry for more.

We also ordered veggies…

Sweet Corn with Garlic & Herbs Butter- Just off the grill sweet corn which were slightly charred on the outside and..perfectly crunchy and juicy on the inside. I could have another round of these….

Sweet Yams….. HOT, sweet, scrumptious yam which were slightly charred on the outside and..perfectly mushy on the inside. Topped off with a layer of Garlic and Herbs Butter…Mmmmm Once again, I should have ordered more! Why don’t I ever learn my lesson?!

Lobster Chawamushi-Lobster Steamed Egg Custard w/ Black Truffles- This was DELICIOUS. But be careful. It’s really hot and upon arriving- practically burned my tongue Lesson of the night. Patience. The plump lobster mixed in perfectly with the rich lump of black truffles. The egg custard was so fluffy and creamy….divine!!!!!!

A giant Monkey Gorilla was in attendance. Congrats you guys! I’ll definitely be back!
